Effort Creates Action

Sometimes we get so focused on our passion for the sport we forget about the work that needs to be done to make wrestling even more prominent in people’s lives.

I’ve been to Texas many times for youth wrestling events and it is always great to see people immersed in the day’s competition.  Parent, coaches, pairers, referees, table workers and just fans of wrestling are all there making sure that the youth of Texas have a great experience with the sport of wrestling.

A month ago I asked to hear from people that wanted the wrestling experience to be not just for the kids of Texas but for the young adults entering college as well.  The call went out—can we find 500 people in Texas that are willing to work so that collegiate wrestling becomes a reality in Texas?

I believe the people of Texas want wrestling at the collegiate level, but it won’t occur unless there is a movement of the masses ready to put in the effort.  We demand effort from our children; maybe it’s time that we demand it of ourselves as well?

Right now, I have around 100 names of people ready to get involved.  We need more.

The plan that I have to bring collegiate wrestling to Texas isn’t a pipe dream.  It draws from the opinions and the prospective support of many legends of wrestling nationally, including figures like J Robinson and Dan Gable.  The trigger on the plan will only get pulled when we reach 500 people that are ready to email me and say they are ready to do their part.

I won’t be demanding that you quit your day job, or mortgage your future.  In fact, most of the work that will need to be done will require little more than emailing people on our target list.  What I look to build is a group that will share the burden so future generations of Texas youth will have the chance to dream about wrestling in college—and yes, actually get to make it happen as well.

I need to hear from you if you want to be a part of a movement that is bigger than yourself.  If you dream of someday sitting down and seeing the Longhorns dual the Aggies or Red Raiders then it is time you put forth the effort to help make it happen.

Please help us get the word out and email me at twitulski@usawrestling.org.
